There is definitely a lot of crime, that's for sure, but most people know nothing about Baltimore that they didn't "learn" from The Wire. We're certainly no Detroit, the entire city isn't falling apart and into bankruptcy. It has some rough patches but some really nice ones too.

Ever been to Canton? Fells? Fed Hill? No? That's like saying you went to NYC and only know Times Square. You were in the tourist destination of Baltimore, so I really can't blame you for not knowing anything about the old school charm here.

As someone who's lived in NY all their life, and has been to NYC more times than I can count, NYC is not really much better than Baltimore.
