"I was dead fucking wrong."

Sorry, but why aren't sexual assaults criminal matters handled by local DA's as opposed to some in-house, pseudo-legal kangaroo court managed by individual PRIVATE institutions? Someone gets assaulted, they go to the police, an investigation ensues, charges considered, indictment brought, then a trial or deal.

I'm not excusing nontransparent institutions who put up these barriers like UVa did (so basically all of them) but it's not "failures on both sides." This is par for the course with universities, government agencies, etc.

"Stonewalled" the serial liar Erdely? You man-hating Jezbians are real pieces of work.

If only people didn't lie about being raped and delegitimize real victims. That's the real tragedy.

Part of proving any crime is fully investigating all possible scenarios, including scenarios where the crime didn't happen. Fully and rationally dealing with skepticism is what we should want if the goal is justice for rape victims. Its the same reason why we should want the best possible lawyers to provide an

$105,ooo for something that still looks like a 2006 3-Series is insane. Explaining to people that it had a V-10 every time they saw it would eventually drive me insane. IT'S A V10!!! I'd shout as they dragged me away...

they're indulging in curiously-precise denials.

Is anyone asking you to treat the two issues as equally important?

color me incredibly unsurprised that the Greek system thinks it's the REAL victimized party

I hope Rolling Stone doesn't apologize to any fraternity including the one mentioned in the original article. Fuck them.

The article was accusing that entire fraternity of planning gang rape every year as part of their initiation. You don't think they're owed an apology?

Its really not that hard to figure out how it slipped through the cracks: It was too good of a story and it fit the misplaced hysteria that surrounds college sexual assaults.

There are two ways to eat fish: Greasy, heavy, and British...and fresh, raw, and Japanese. Anything else is sub-optimal.

Yes.

Has it occurred to you to avoid stories like this if they affect you so deeply? It's hardly the media's job to make sure you aren't triggered. I don't go see any movies without checking to see if there's a rape scene because I don't want to be triggered.

Note: *I'm a guy and I fear for what this will do to real rape victims or those in danger as well as my sister in college, and some of my friends as well.

Is it not just a little troubling that it took an adult woman "hours of prayer, talking with [her] parents and re-reading [her] words" to realize that her words were insulting and poor taste.

That shit drives me nuts. As I said over on Gawker, you don't need many hours of prayer to know you just slagged on two teenagers you've never met for nothing. You don't need five minutes. Jesus, to quote Anne Lamott, is drinking gin straight out of the cat dish and rolling His eyes so hard they're gonna stick that

I feel kinda bad for Jesus for having to hear her go on about it for hours.
