I’m not condoning this behavior in any way, once they decide not to pursue charges, they should not be able to keep anything they seize from you.

I still don’t know how this isn’t universally interpreted as an infringement on the 4th amendment. It’s exactly what it was written for, to protect against this kind of thing.

I mentioned this in the thread as well - but I can’t agree with the GTI being on that list. The only argument against it, really, is that it’s a jack of all trades and a master of none. But that’s literally its entire purpose - a practical 2 or 4 door hatch with more performance than you’d get in a Golf.

They base it on replacement value. I had a payout higher than what I paid for a Civic Si that a pickup drive slammed into, because the Civic Si depreciation rates they were using had it being worth much closer to new MSRP and I had paid under invoice for the car.
