It’s been a hot minute since Acura built anything that was dynamically competitive with real sport sedans, but otherwise I agree. It looks solid and should have the chassis and engine to be a fun sedan. 10 speed transmission seems like too many gears, though - I feel like it would just be shifting all the time. 

You gotta get a tune. Just reflashing my Audi A3 2.0t bumped it up to 278 HP and 350 lb-ft of torque at the wheels, and the dropoff high in the rev range was eliminated. It now has immediate, V6 like power from a stop, and can keep pulling all the way up.

Yep. A regular old 1980s commuter car with no historical or enthusiast significance should be like, $500-1000. I’m just not sure what the point of owning this thing is unless you’re some kind of US Toyota diesel enthusiast, if those exist. $3000 would get you a car from around 2000 that’s 15 years newer.

Exactly. If GM can afford to build its own Corvette with weak ass financials, then Toyota can build its own Supra. Toyota has fucking 4.5 times the stock price of GM. It’s the world leader among all makes in market share. It can afford to build its own Supra.

I’m gonna read between the lines here - since all GM is showing is this, the rest of the vehicle probably isn’t done yet. 

That’s the problem with almost every GM product - in every class, another brand does it better than GM’s offering, being some combination of more reliable, better built, more features, better resale value, etc.

I feel like they had to be expecting to get caught, right? Like they HAVE to have some deal under the table with Ghosn to make this all worth their trouble, right?

I have no idea how guilty or not Ghosn is, but uhhhhh yeah, innocent people with the means and ability absolutely DO run if they think the justice system they are subject to isn’t gonna give them a fair trial.

We’re entering this weird territory where a small group of gearheads think 30 year old commuter appliance sedans are worth $7,000.

It’s just like how you can go back to the writings of any former civilization, no matter how old, and you’ll find some guy whining about how the youth don’t respect the older generations and are out of control.

I don’t really get what the point of a targa top is when there is a convertible option, either. If you want your car to be able to go roof-less, wouldn’t you just want to go all the way with it?
