I just threw out Gaslight (since it's only in Category A on the list I posted above) and inserted that one.

"will be devoted to film noir, both new, old and precursory"

Yeah, same here. I have a list of 30 and I'm going to try to get to them all but it's highly unlikely that I actually will.

I made a list on Letterboxd ranking the noirs I have seen and someone replied noting that there's a "March Noir challenge" and suggested I could participate if I wanted to see more noirs. The idea was started here:

Well, does it really make that much of a difference? This doesn't mean that I'm suddenly going to decide that the director's background had no influence on the film itself. These labels aren't going to impact how anyone here is going to discuss film really.

I give this birthday greeting an A-.

I don't know, Dave. I'm tired of talking about this. It's just intuitive to me that Brokeback Mountain isn't first and foremost a Chinese film.

Well, if we're going to look at how it's informed by Korean culture we also have to consider how it is informed by American culture and I think it's rather clear that this film is given that the script is written by an American. So then the question is: what's American about this film and what's Korean? It's safe to
