People still successfully sue cigarette companies for getting them addicted to smoking. Samsung will be sued or they will settle out of court for this. Samsung is fully libel in this case, no matter how many actions they take to recall the phones. They are responsible for putting the phone out in the first place.

A few reasons I’d guess.

I have a hard time believing that people aren’t aware of this by now.

One who is unaware of the defective batteries. It's big news in the world of gadgets, but that is not something everyone follows that closely.

wtf?????? Can’t kids watch videos and play games on their parent’s devices? Why does everything have to be educational? My parents bought my brother and I a NES when I was 6. That was several hundred dollars. Should I not have owned a Gameboy either? Get with the times. Phones/Tablets/iPods are the equivalent

Why are you ranting about media coverage and people following up on the news? Literally all every carrier needs to do is send a text message/automated phone call to every Note 7 user using their network. Have the carriers been doing this? Why do you feel it is the responsibility of news outlets to notify people of

And why would you give one to a child? Its not a soother! In fact why are you giving any complex phone to a child? If anything, they should simply have a device that allows emergency use and tracking for the parents...

That and not everyone will see this news site or other sites, even if Samsung or telecoms contacted directly people who purchased the device, there’s always a chance of missing someone.

You don’t have kids, do you?

Counterpoint: There are people who still don’t know that bin Laden is dead. Never underestimate the ignorance of the average American.

Samsung could/should force an update to all Note 7's that disables anything but simple calling, forcing the battery load down, limiting performance of the hardware and nag the owner with return to shop notifications. Or is that impossible?

samsung and each store who sold them, should have actually made the folks who bought one a real incentive to return the device, not just a measly $25 only to the people who take a lesser samsung device. i have so many samsung products, a fridge, tv’s, blu-rays, many phones and tablets, and the watch- but I do not see

Could someone have possibly let the child watch a video on their phone and it not be owned by the child?

When Samsung, Sprint and everyone else fucks up, takes too much time to say this or do anything real about it and then they do, but after I go on a trip.....yeah I can’t just power down and return ASAP.

Wow, good job Samsung. You set his room on fire then give him a J1 as a loaner. Wow! Seriously they couldn’t have just given him a regular galaxy phone hell they are practically giving the s5 away at most carriers.

Brilliant retort! University of Trump would be proud to have you on their non-existent debate team!

<<cheery piano intro>>

The reporting on exploding Samsung phones by Gizmodo has been incredibly different compared to Apple “Bendgate.”

It was the first Samsung phone that wasn’t received with a lukewarm response.

Oh he didn’t deny me my refund, just treated me like an idiot for taking Samsung up on their offer. At least he was confident in his dangerous ignorance. He went on about how most people were holding onto them and how it was ONLY a voluntary recall after all, just really really downplayed the issue. Which, fine, but
