That's reminds me of an article from the December 2007 issue of Collectible Automobile. I scanned some clay-models pics and one picture show a proposed 1971 Wildcat. Strange they dropped the Wildcat for the Centurion moniker. On the other hand, they could had gived a 2nd life for the Wildcat moniker if they had used…
As Ate Up with Motor mentionned, if the 3rd-gen Cuda design arrived earlier (or Chrysler decided to keep the E-body more longer or going ahead with that proposed '75 'Cuda showed in Popolar Hot Rodding), things could had been different.
The Firebird/Trans-Am was popular in ads during that time, I remember some Texaco ads featuring a Trans-Am cameo like this one back when Texaco have some gas stations in Canada before they was bought by Esso in 1988.

(Speaking of Renault-Nissan, I spotted this French article who mentionned they wants to made 10 millions car per year in 3 years [www.caradisiac.com] and GM selling bonds.... a tempting opportunity for Ghosn…
About the Renault Fuego, it didn't do well either in France, it sell well in the 1st year but sales declined. However it was more lucky in Argentina and was sold to 1992. I spotted a French article from Leblogauto and I spotted a defunct Renault Fuego fansite archived on the Internet archive.
