Unreal.

Wow, I am SO sorry for my American sisters. It's awful that you have to (a) pay for birth control (although we have to pay for pills/condoms, but IUDs are free) (b) be subjected to judgy doctors and (c) don't have your rights to your own body enshrined in your constitution. Time to kick ass down there, girls.

Then there's the whole "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" thing you seem to have going on.

Makes you wonder what part Big Pharma has to play in all of this, doesn't it?

I have to admit: I never checked the strings because the whole idea kind of skeeved me out.

My dr was old school — feet in the stirrups, speculum, take a deep breath and bingo! It was in.

How far along were you? I'm wondering if you would have miscarried if it had been left in there.

Also, if it's not in the right place, you can expel it.

I doubt you would, though. It would likely take you a while to really "trust" it, but once you did, I'm sure you'd love it.

I got pregnant on 3 types of BC because some of the other meds I was taking thinned the membrane of my eggs, making it ridiculously easy for me to get pregnant. You'd think somebody would have mentioned that to me...

Ah. Thanks for the info. I thought there must be a term for it.

I have no idea what a paraguard is. Sounds military, like you have a sentry guarding your ovaries.

OK, remember how I said I liked having my period? I don't like it THAT much...

I may be the weirdo here, but I *like* having my period. It reassures me that my body is working properly.

I know I should read back through all the posts to see what you wrote about what you've tried but the cats are fighting so I'll just ask: what was your experience with the IUD?

I heard that about Depo. Yikes. You poor thing.

Again girls, let's dream the impossible dream. Wouldn't it be great if men actually took some real responsibility for this? That being said, I don't know if I'd ever be confident enough that I was protected. The party's in our body after all.

I guess it's like everything else. Works for some: doesn't for others.

Yeah, the hormones and their effect on the REST of you scare me...
