Happy to see Best Show back in it's rightful place, though I still take issue with the notion that this was return to top form, it never left. Just admit it, AVC guy who reviews the Best Show, you put one of the best Best Shows in recent memory (the one with the Philly Boy Roy meta call) in The Rest for a nonsensical

^Fucking THIS. I can't believe I just went through eight pages of comments doing a ctrl+f on "venk" all for this shitty comment that is in no way clever. "Hurr durr we're on the AV Club we're all shut-in basement-dwellers." Wow, how insightful and hilarious, I have never once read an AV Club comment expressing this

I kind of want this to be true, since it's gotten increasingly difficult to watch Jesse be manipulated and used as the manipulations have progressively chipped away at his psyche. Walt used to genuinely care about Jesse's well being, but now even he is just using Jesse to do his dirty work. It'd be nice if there was

Is this Chuck Mangione? Is this Chuck Mangione? Is this Chuck Mangione?

When a person's inner lightwater glows a certain way, you can tell they are about to commit a violent crime. That's the secret of the magic box - it's a lightwaterometer.

…trip through It's a Small World pretending I was a UN interprete-OH GOOD LORD

Not to mention the entirety of the AV Club commenters. Don't you remember the S2 Breaking Bad comments sections?

How long has Gus been planning this revenge scheme against the cartel? He knew about Tuco going in to his dealings with Walt, so if he deliberately took Walt under his wing and protected him from the twins, knowing that the cartel operates under the rule of blood for blood, was he planning to have Hank kill the twins

I think he sees himself as different, and the revelation that Gus took a similar path into the drug world definitively closes the plot hole of "Why hasn't Gus just killed Jesse and forced Walt to continue cooking for him?". Gus has said that he doesn't believe fear to be an effective motivator, and now we know why,

I think so. I'm now thinking the whole show is kind of about these cycles of damaged egos that corrupt people and cause them to ascend to power quickly and then crash and burn as their hubris eventually gets the better of them. It's kind of a close up view of the cycle of violence and what fuels it.

Yeah, seeing Gus's reaction to his partner being murdered made me rethink his character. Until now, from what we had seen of him he was pretty much a complete sociopath, and now the flashback shows that he did feel things at one time. So, does this mean Breaking Bad is saying psychopaths aren't born, they're created?

Because according to his cover story, a man whose house he was recently at was just murdered and he read about it in the paper, so someone in that position would make that connection when told their fingerprints had been found at a crime scene.

Yeah I agree, I find myself scrolling back up often to discern whether the comment I'm reading is a reply to an earlier thread, or a new thread of its own.

There is, it's called skipping to 15 minutes in your media player.  I do it for almost every WTF I listen to.

Of course that's what they had in mind. When Scottabot does an episode with some of his comedian friends as guests, it usually ends up getting meta. Comedians love comedy about comedy since it's their job. Kinda like how AV Club writers love Community because its pop culture about pop culture.

And Jesse is somewhere in between. I'm fine with Walt dying in the end, but I really hoe Hank and Jesse survive.

That's what the show is. Tom complains about stuff and rags on people. For instance, he's friends with AP Mike, but on air its funnier to build the Mike persona into this insane, depraved individual that Tom is constantly seeking to replace.

^Same. I came for the Jon Benjamin comparisons, I stayed for… wait actually I'm leaving right after this.

So to you, "something shitty happening to someone in their real life" is not letting a troll run around free on your own personal forums on your own website? Are you one of those people who yell that their right to free speech is being infringed upon when they are kicked our of bars for being too loud and obnoxious?

A great episode of The Best Show AND Who Charted with PFT both in The Rest? Seriously, what is wrong with you people?
