How can there be half a dozen closers in the HOF but pure DH’s are shunned? A good DH is far more rare and valuable than a closer.

It’s been part of the game (like it or not) since 1973. Rewarding someone who is generally considered one of the best to be a Designated Hitter with the HOF isn’t that outlandish.

Insane idea, but for one game, the players totally ignore the refs. Playground rules, call your own fouls. The league would have a conniption fit.

Yeah at this point anyone confesses to addiction or comes out of the closet, my immediate reaction is “oh fuck what did he DO?”

Maybe it’s just because this has been such an absolute shitshow of a year, but something tells me that there’s a bigger reason behind his leaving and that coming out first with admission of substance addiction will lay the groundwork for a future excuse when past behavior gets brought up.
