I think the universe and lore of Mass Effect is strong enough to support a scripted plot without choices. And I may be giving the audience too much credit, but I think they’d be able to accept a story that wasn’t what they played out. As long as the story is simply good.

I’m already struggling to get behind the adaptation of video games into movies - largely because the industry seems more interested in trying to milk the cash cow rather than in any way consider the complexities of the differing forms and show even the slightest ounce of respect to the source material.

  • Despero’s monologue was just so over the top. With all of the turn arounds combined with camera cuts. Drama much?

It’s The Beeboverse, Grodd damn it!

Now playing

“Barry it looks like there’s an alien who can drive people insane”

Alex sleeping with a married man is a weird thing to point out as a reason not to root for her. She’s done so much worse, and is so much worse, than that choice.

first season was already trash. had the same trappings of prestige like the later seasons of house of cards. everything screamed “prestige tv” but if you actually looked past the immaculate set design, costuming and cinematography you realized it’s all just a bunch of meaningless hot air and despite looking good, it

Runaways has a lot more to offer than you give it credit for. The characters from the comics get to live and breathe, but keeping the parents in the story fleshed out and sometimes sympathetic antagonists with their own struggle took way better advantage of the live cast than the original comic could have. And making

Agents of SHIELD at 9th? That’s some weapons grade bullshit right there. You have to do better AV Club (again).

  • Yaz’s knowledge of how to organize a missing persons search is a really nice, specific use of her background as a cop.

“Village Of The Angels” dramatizes Claire’s mindscape as a double-shored beach (or maybe a split sea, if you want to get Biblical)

Yes, but RTD is going to be writing and Mandip isn’t white. My hopes on that front remain very low.

Given that the to-air-in-2022 specials have already been wrapped by the BBC and that the nu-RTD show probably won’t even start shooting until late `22, I’d be honestly surprised: that’s a lot of time for a working actor to sit around twiddling their thumbs even if RTD wanted either of them along.

Chester referenced Ray looking at him like Chester “was dead to him” and then was horrified and apologized to Cecile. Yeah that seems like maybe something happened to Joe unless it is a fakeout

(There are entirely too many Noras in the CW-verse, leaving me momentarily wondering if Ray was somehow married to either the Speed Force or the West-Allens’ future daughter.)

It was nice to see so much downtime. Nice, even keeled way to start the season. I’d argue it was the best season opener in a while.

Here’s a thing I hadn’t noticed before I just looked at the wiki: way back before Rip’s wife died, Rip’s wife’s timeship’s AI was called... Gary. Coincidence? Yes, probably...

They don’t have any engineers, mechanics or mechanical geniuses on the ship anymore. Jax, Ray and even Mick are gone and Flannel Zari is in the totem. They need someone who can repair the ship and Davies looks like a good fit to me. They can even take his loved one out of time to live with him on the Waverider without

The funniest thing to me regarding the location is that the train station they used was also the train station exterior they used for Chicago when they went to the 20s in s2 and dealt with Al Capone.

I like that in this version of 1925, the fact that the Bullet Blondes are in fact NOT sisters, is above the fold headline news.
