God, do we need people like Ann Richards or Molly Ivins around these days. The female South sometimes seems so voiceless without them. I love Cecile and wish her all the best.

Of course she hangs out in airports; she has to make all those announcements for Sandpiper Air!
she once told her public defender that she has no family and has lived in shelters around the city; airports, she said, are safer than living on the street. And as Parle Roe-Taylor, the assistant public defender who represented Hartman last year, pointed out at the time: Jail is not an appropriate setting to deal…
This from an administration that admonishes the press for taking every word the President says literally.
So an injoke in the FBI, likely a mocking reference to Trump and co’s insane paranoia, is now being used by the paranoid as proof of a conspiracy?
It’s not just you. I have no doubt that virtually every normal human will experience at least some visceral satisfaction at seeing this predator torn apart in court. Following that, we must insist that reason and intellect take over if we are to at least maintain the illusion that we want to live in a civilized and…
Yep, “just me”:
Um, please do your research before responding:
I mentioned it on another article, but I don’t get why this isn’t getting more attention? Is it because people are more horrified by men on boy molestation? Is it because female victims are more disposable? Is it because football is so much bigger? I don’t want to compare tragedies but I’m so angry for these victims…
Maybe it’s just me, but I didn’t like some of the comments the judge in this case made. It felt like watching a court in Egypt or Iraq where they brag about the punishment they’re about to give you. Also, insinuating that you wish you could have Nassar assaulted the way he did his victims? FFS.
I don’t quite get it. I have the feeling that most of the conservative hypocritical assholes are white and that lots of the people needing abortions are probably not their favourite “sort”. So they are against procedures that reduce the number of people that they really would rather weren’t? Or perhaps it’s just that…
If Cecile Richards becomes HHS secretary, I will know we are finally in The Good Place.
Was there any backlash to her comments? Not that I’d be surprised, but I don’t really recall seeing anything substantive.
There’s no way it happened that quickly. More likely, she knew she was leaving and decided to throw caution to the wind and speak the truth, without having to worry about what faux liberal white ladies would do. The backlash in the media didn’t seem as bad as I expected, actually.
That was my first thought as well: “Damn, call out white women and they come for your head, and fast.”
Yeah, I find it hard right now to trust any famous guy. For some old reason.
Um, your landlord should have been arrested (or at least ticketed) for mis-using 911 and calling in a false burglary report.
You need to do something about this. I don’t know if your landlord had a mental break or is vindictive as hell but this needs to be documented and there need to be repercussions. Contact a local lawyer or tenant’s rights group, I’m not sure where you are but there should be someone near or in the closest city.…
I paid in cash every month so no electronic transfers to be had. But I have our entire text history going back to when I moved in. Most of the communication involved me telling him I’ve left the rent money for him or letting him know there was a problem in the place.
What he did was kind of a variation of “swatting.” The police might charge him, he lied, misused the 911 system, and wasted police time. Of course this is all beside the main point, which is that you have had really horrible experience! You handled yourself very well.
