I love what I like. Though, I wouldn’t say the majority of the fan-base “hates” TLJ, but we have some strong criticisms/concerns.

It was hard enough to keep the first Death Star secret. That’s why I think they added a massive shield generator to the second model. :)

I loved it, until we see where Ep 9 is headed, I think every Star Wars fan is asking for more continuity.

Let’s not confuse art with entertainment. TLJ isn’t a Michael Bay Transformers film. Rian Johnson has a creative body of work.

They should, but Hollywood is often guilty of repeating things that worked well in the past in order to make a buck.

In the old EU novels, one author invented the “Sun Crusher”, a ship capable of collapsing stars which in turn destroyed entire galaxies. So there’s that.

Yes, the original trilogy works well as a whole story. The problem is that it’s difficult to see where 7-8-9 is going and problematic that Rian Johnson was well into writing TLJ before TFA came out. In this case, there isn’t enough higher ups stepping in to guide these films. The fact that we all left the theater…

I think the consistent vision revolves around Rey, Finn, and Ben now. In that regard, Disney is being successful.

Let’s not assume Luke did anything other than slightly delay the Resistance’s total destruction. :)

Wasn’t that the lesson of TLJ? Your heroes will always disappoint you. It’s a great commentary on the unreliability of humanity. We are all flawed creatures.

Film makers are just people too. People tend to repeat their mistakes. I have favorite video games that I’m just boggled no one has iterated on it make even better.

After Empire was rewritten a few a times, Lucas decided it would be a trilogy.

Counter-Point -> How much of Episode 6 was planned out when Lucas was working on Episode 5? Sure it worked out okay, but building a second death Star is pretty unimaginative.
