Yes! I found it to be that way on Gawker yesterday. Also, if you get enough comments, there's a little double arrow icon that will come up (looks kind of like fast forward), and it will show you a whole, scrollable list of all the comment previews so you can click where you want.

I have family like that. Not racist or homophobic, but close enough that they expect you to visit a few times a year. And I've been going through a situation with my stepmom and dad that makes it uncomfortable to be around them.
