This sounds like it might be a little like the book I'm currently reading - I say "might" because I'm not yet sure if that's what's going on in the book and I'm not naming the book for spoilery reasons. Which kind of makes this a fairly worthless comment - not the other ones necessarily aren't.

My initial reaction to reading "raised-field farming" was a vision of winged, or perhaps just very nimble, cattle grazing the tree tops. While the vision soon evaporated, I imagine it would be a rather sustainable form of agriculture. Yeah, I know, when pigs can fly.

"Submission - going down, down, deeper and down,

Not a gene, but some years ago I started developing an experimental method for analyzing altered gene expression in cancer cells - specifically differences in alternative splicing between normal and cancer cells. I coined the method Detection of ALternative EXons, or DALEX. Partly named after another screen called

If Awake gets cancelled because we're not watching it I'm gonna be spending MUCH more time in the alternate universe where we are watching it.

I like enthusiastic reviews of shows I like enthusiastically. Interesting comparison with 24, since John Reese owes somewhat of a stylistic debt to Jack Bauer. Meanwhile, the guy who played Jack is also using numbers to save people over on the other channel.

So, what's the derivation of the red! and blue! descriptors? Did the Fringe multiverse just cross over to the Awake multiverse?

I wonder whether there is actually a scheme afoot between Astrid-in-uniform and Lincoln "don't call me Tyrone" Lee , not dead just pretending, as suggested by blackoak below, to smoke out the mole who they suspect (from his reluctance to accept the shapeshifter theory of "Tyrone is my middle name Lincoln) to be "Call

Well, its a cute idea and it sure would be nice if Lincoln "don't call me Tyrone" Lee was still alive, but why would he fake being dead, pretend to be someone else in order to infiltrate his own team? Or maybe the alt side think the mole is on "our" side?

So, when Astrid-in-uniform walked into Broyles office, obviously with something important to say, I believe she addressed him as *Agent* Broyles, therefore "our" Broyles, since Alt-Broyles had made a point of telling Lincoln he was to be addressed as *Colonel* Broyles. Was she on "our" side to inform our Broyles about

I thought I was watching it. Are you trying to tell me I'm just dreaming, undergoing a psychotic fugue or visiting a parallel universe every Thursday night?

Increasing serotonin doesn't seem to make much sense - in that case you'd expect SSRI drugs to enhance dream recall and vividness - in my experience they don't. Unless this is a dream.....

Probably high levels of tryptophan in cheese - any correlation between cheese type and dream flavor? Pepper jack for hot dreams, gorgonzola for blue dreams, velveeta for scary bad dreams?

The main protagonist gets handed a number, or series of numbers, at the start of the show and uses these numbers to save someone from herself or someone else. Two shows, two channels, one time slot. One show gets consistently good reviews here, the other gets consistent snarkiness. Now, I'm not saying that Touch is as

None of which really answers the question posed at the start - why are they so expensive? Yes, the method of production can be more costly, in terms of time, manpower and quality control, than production of small molecule drugs. But preclinical and clinical development of biologic drugs is more or less similar to that

River Song, Donna Noble, Peri.... I mean, who can blame him for being a bastard after spending so much and so many times with such annoying people?

My enjoyment of the episode slightly marred by intense cravings for a peanut butter and bacon sandwich.

Body fat loss was 4.4%, not 16%. In any case, the relevant effect is that of extract v. placebo - why else include a placebo arm.

Sadly that's the biological equivalent of discovering faster than light neutrinos.

Nothing short of genius. But I hope you have patent protection on that.
