I'm so glad the removal of my wisdom teeth is behind me. I'm just getting nightmares thinking about the puffiness and mouth pain again. It's a wonder I didn't become an Oxy/Vicodin addict.

So, I'm a big fan of books heavy on character development; I just finished reading Sense of An Ending, which I loved. I also thought that The Year We Left Home was pretty good too. I actually just started reading some David Foster Wallace (very similar in a lot of ways to Vonnegut). I read his first book, The Broom of…
Did I make a generalization? Sure. But like I said, I work in public health and I deal with trying to improve the nation's health on a regular basis. So excuse me for not carefully wording my response; but in a country where many parents feel its okay to let their kids drink soda every day, several times a day, I…
Thanks for the solidarity!
Haha thanks.
Haha no worries. As much as I love Jezebel, sometimes its hard to understand the reasoning/tone, etc. when everything is online. It's definitely a sensitive topic for sure (health, parenting, etc. all very touchy for everyone). It's hard to make judgements on people's lives when you don't necessarily know what goes on…
Duh. I'm not trying to simplify the issue. All I was saying was that it was my gut reaction. Because, you're right, a few sips of soda doesn't matter, but it's just that in a lot of instances, a few sips, leads to giving the kid cupfuls of the stuff. Who knows if the parents in this video do this, I'm just saying what…
Of course. I'm definitely not saying a few sips is going to make the kid obese, but it's just that it's become such a sustained problem nationally, that I can't help it but be my first, or second, reaction.
It's the curse of the industry? haha
Moved last weekend from Baltimore to Boston (officially) and I'm so relieved that part of the move is over. Now I'm just stuck unpacking and finding homes for everything, and making a LONG list of things that I need to buy.
Sorry to be a Debbie Downer, but after my initial, "OMG sooo adorable!!!", I thought, "That guy really should not be giving his kid soda. That's why America is fat."
This is a little weird for me...but I LOVE NEWSIES!!!! I had such a crush on Jack (aka Christian Bale).
That is really awesome and got me teary-eyed. It makes me so sad how poorly many these animals have been treated and it just goes to show you that so much of the aggressive behavior in animals is really learned/taught.
I started volunteering at my local SPCA (just pulled a shift today too!) and it really is the most rewarding thing ever. I love just getting to hang out with the dogs. It brings my spirits up so much...I guess it's a little selfish in that respect.
AHh! no spoilers for those of us without HBO and have to wait till tomorrow!!
I suck at budgeting (especially sticking to it...) you're definitely not alone.
I'm planning on catching up on a bunch of books I bought on recommendations from the NYTimes book review...but I'm just about to start Commencement by J. Courtney Sullivan. Just finished "The Year We Left Home" by Jean Thompson.
That's what I did today, except that I packed up all my winter clothing and unpacked my summer clothing...I'm feeling productive but I've got oh so much more to do (just moved last weekend and been unpacking liking woah, but never seems to end)
Sure! What kind of genres or authors do you typically enjoy?
Is it white or red? I'm assuming red since you want to make coq au vin. Reds can age longer than whites. Is there a lot of sediment? I'd say that the "softer" mouthfeel your getting is because the tannins have minmized a fair amount. You get that in aged wines a lot more so than in younger wines. I think you're…
