Yep. I read a lot of these TERF screeds as kind of “they’re choosing to be women now so they can reap what we’ve sown.” Like, a cisgendered man would suddenly decide to give up his entire identity in order to “take” what feminists have labored to achieve.

The “I don’t see race” argument is really an “I have the privilege of not thinking about or discussing racism,” argument, in a world that treats whiteness as its default.”

solidarity is for white women?

Let’s make something very clear: Cons don’t believe in free speech. Their “concern” is a one way street. Their hissy fits over Colin Kaepernick and the protests proves this. Their “cancel culture is designed to stifle free speech” bullshit is just that, bullshit. These are the same people who, fifteen years ago, were

As a white guy who had a sexist and racist dad growing up I find myself fighting against that programming very often. I call bullshit on anyone claiming they’ve now been totally cured or whatever. That old shit is still in your head and needs to be actively contained.

Instagram progressives. Progressive for the likes.

I would like to gently push back on the idea that the writer’s friend was necessarily all that progressive. Some “liberals” are people who are more enamored with an inner narrative where they are persecuted, brave truth-tellers who stand against the idiot mob, than they are of really walking the talk of progressive

Ugh. Because white people insist on being congratulated for every incremental step towards self- awareness and have set the bar as low as it can go, good for them.

Sounds about white.

A few years ago, I was at an event dressed to the nines. TimeOut took my photo. So did the Village Voice. Vogue’s photographer approached while I was chatting with some (white) friends and requested to take a photo and then asked me to step out of the shot. She looked annoyed that I would even think I was worth her

After having had several long conversations with the latter group in recent weeks it’s clear they’re just somewhat smarter and more manipulative than the former. They want to claim to argue from a base of respectability but still portray transwomen as rapists and transmen as victims of misogyny.

Do note the distancing word choice in her “apology” too.

My daughter falls in that same spectrum, and I wouldn’t classify ASD as a mental illness, it’s a different way of interacting with the world and thinking, and “normal” whatever that is, for her.

Isn’t it contrary to Samuel Alito’s views on sodomy for him to have his head so far up his ass?

Well, of course, white women are embracing Farrakhan while women of color activists that don’t soundly condemn everything he’s ever been even vaguely associated with get run off the public stage:

Handler and Chastain don’t care. Their only concerns are how performatively woke they can be.

That’s fucked up and not at all what we want to stand for. We apologize. We recognize we need to do better.

I would gently encourage you to read the literature - there’s lots of it, much of it widely available - about the importance of stories for children, the lifelong effect they can have, and why millennials in particular have clung to their childhood stories in a way that makes a great deal of psychological sense.

“dense fucking cabbage” is my new favorite phrase

I always thought the most Rowling-esque character in Harry Potter was Rita Skeeter but it turns out she was Dolores Umbridge all along.
