Friedman should be a pariah to any thinking person until he apologizes for his cheerleading for the Iraq War. He still has blood on his hands.

As someone who once had the miserable experience of being in a deli in LA one table over from Stiller and Taylor while Stiller just sat and loudly belittled her, criticized her, and at one point yelled at her in the middle of the restaurant while she just sat there trying not to cry, I do not share this delight.
This is a great question. I used to be such an avid fan of VF, and I couldn’t wait for my monthly issue to come in the mail. Since Graydon Carter left, the magazine has gone waaaay down hill. I read VF for escapist rich people stories, whether it’s the Dominick Dunne-style crimes and scandals of the rich and famous,…
Why is her kneecap facing the camera and her foot is facing camera right???
When that awful Nina Simone movie came out with the darkening makeup and prosthetic nose, I thought the real Nina Simone wouldn’t even land an audition for her own biopic.
The outfit is atrocious! Even with the best Photoshop this would have looked bad!
That’s a terrible photo with some horrific photoshop. The way she’s posed and styled makes her look like she’s been pieced together from different people. And that can happen with just being posed in a funny way - I have a photo of me where it looks like my hand was pasted on. But I didn’t have a professional…
I think there’s a huge difference between our experience of the world and a famous model’s, and it’s causing an empathy gap here. I worked as a model for a minute (nothing glamorous, just boring commercial work), and being a model means being treated like a lamp - stylists, photographers, casting agents, etc will say…
Tom Cruise is a good example of excellent cosmetic work, expertly done. There is *no way* a normal-ass short, 59-year old white guy looks like he does, which is a discreetly crag-ified version of his mid-20s prime self. He’s had work done. Lots of it. Maybe he’s got an entire surgery/derm/aesthetic team on retainer;…
He stayed for 6 years after that. Rich dalrymple is the fixer. There’s probably not anyone who knows more secrets about that team, a team that has a lot of secrets, than he does. Someone like that is a dangerous person to have around, because you feel like you have to keep them close to avoid giving them the…
Women get the message pretty early on that youth and beauty are valuable. After an entire career where her worth was her attractiveness, you can’t figure out why it would be hard to come to terms with aging and becoming less attractive? There is an enormous amount of pressure on women to not "let themselves go." I…
Some asshole on my Facebook feed did a side by side of her and Tom Cruise today to show “who takes care of themselves and who doesn’t.”
I don’t care if she was a [put whatever employment makes you happy here], we can be empathetic for a person that goes in to get a procedure done and is physically scarred for life after. It doesn’t matter who she was or who she is. Stop judging people.
Hey, look at what happened *last friggin’ month* to Bridget Fonda after some-20 years of fading into obscurity: a fucking paparazzo figured out where she lived, *staked out her house*, and took photos of her looking like a normal middle-aged mom. She had gained a lot of weight and some of the press were rather cruel…
Being a politician (and maybe especially a right-wing politician) means never having to justify your claims.
That’s your take away from this article?
Please re-read the article, I think the whole point was that that was the way the author used to think, and she was looking at things much differently now.
Ironically, men started cheerleading a century ago, and they didn’t run around half naked. WWII got women involved in cheerleading, and men never really returned to it.
