Kinda surprised the US drift scene didn’t start with old Vettes. Other than the dimensions of the car, it seems perfect for it.

Buddy bought a hurricane Sandy C5Z and we rebuilt it. you could see the water line was up to mid-steering wheel. Gutted and rebuilt back to factory spec to get it registered for street in MA (awful process). With the chassis it ended up costing about $12k. Not bad. Now it’s a great HPDE car. I too, am coming to this realization first-hand. I have owned my ‘55 Bel-Air for 6 years and have spent more than I care to admit on making it a “Grand Tourer”, i.e., a classic that drives like a modern car.

Something many younger people don’t know and older people don’t remember, old cars kinda sucked. They were hot, smelly, chugged gas like light beer, drove like shit, and weren’t powerful.

New camrys will cost 6 figures by 2068 anyway :)
