Yeah I can definitely see where you’re coming from, and those are very valid points. I’ve always known of the taboo stigma of asking people things like that, but never knew the reasoning behind it.

To compare. It’s the whole reason why things like Kelly Blue Book, and Glassdoor exist. Comparison is what keeps markets competitive in a sense. If no one knew what anyone paid for things or was getting paid: a lot more people would be taken advantage of.
