No one on the East Coast thinks this is a rivalry. In fact, no one outside of Chicago thinks it is a rivalry. Literally everyone else knows Chicago pizza is for fat midwesterners with no taste buds whatsover.

King Félix has some of the nastier stuff in baseball.”

Could be, I’m basing this mostly off of Chasing Madoff, which implied that the evidence wasn’t that hard to find but no one but Harry Markopolos was interested in looking.

As a Mets fan I say amen to that!

Fair enough. I’m not really arguing that Speed Racer shouldn’t be on the list, it just seems hypocritical to include it but not Avatar.

It was a worse movie with worse special effects than Avatar, which they didn’t include.  Contrarians gonna contrarian...

Of course Avatar belongs on the list, and of course the AV Club would leave it off. No one could reasonably argue that a gorey schlock-fest like The Beyond had better special effects than Avatar, even after accounting for advances in technology between the two films, yet here we are.

They mostly were unwitting dupes, though. They *should* have done more homework and/or realized Madoff’s returns were impossible, but by all accounts they just trusted him and never really tried to look behind the curtain. And they ended up having to pay into the funds because of their role in recruiting others for

Trading Familia, who is a FA this offseason, was a smart move for a team that is not going to sniff the playoffs this year.

Like your brother, I am a 41 year old Mets fan. One of my earliest baseball memories is them winning it all in 1986, and I remember them always being good in the late 80s. And as I have frequently pointed out, Mets fans around my age were grossly mislead as to what being a Mets fan was going to be like.

I dare say that if you love Mamma Mia! you are incapable of feeling embarrassed.

I get it too, my whole point was we shouldn’t rush to blame all the male leads for TJ Miller’s behavior just because Ms. Wetterlund thinks we should.  Of course, this being the internet and all I’m getting a lot of “how dare you excuse these enablers!” responses.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

This is a reasonable take, and I thank you for a measured and reasoned response.

Sign of an annoying internet commenter #3: Claiming what someone else said is “demonstrably untrue,” without being able to demonstrate said untruthfulness.

Sign of annoying internet commenter #2: Not having any real answers of substance, so instead accusing others of creating “strawmen” rather than defend one’s indefensible positions.

Yes, you are trying to be snarky. First of all, “I’m not trying to be X” statements, followed by clearly X actions, is the surefire sign of an annoying internet commenter.

Holy crap, I had no idea. That really doesn’t ever get mentioned.

So she’s complicit too because she didn’t try to stop it, right?
