I don't disagree but I think the problem is with American work culture in general. The unwritten rule is don't take [adequate] time off for anything - whether it's because of an illness, need for a vacation, a new baby, elder-care, grieving, etc. Taking time off, for whatever purpose, equals not taking the job…
