Snow sports enthusiast here! It did nothing to prevent me getting into this situation but AWD definitely helps you get un-stuck. You think I’d get out of this by myself in a fwd car? Subie Squad! (I had the front wheels back on the pavement when a tow truck showed up)

Dodge unveiled something called its “’Never Lift’ business plan.

Oh, you’re that guy.

Here’s a controversial take - the Orochi looks a lot better than the internet thinks. Since it was scooped up by the “we make listicles about things you’re supposed to hate” crowd, it has got this reputation for being unspeakably ugly, when it’s really not. Too much going on - Coco Chanel, she who said “before you

I love it when Torchinsky starts drinking first thing in the morning.

This article made me realize how well the Trans Am has aged. It actually looks better to me now than back then.

I’ll be even more controversial than this. I think they both look fine.

Yeah, there are incidents where people are running over protesters.  But this ain’t it.

He definitely didn’t assault the protesters, and no they don’t get to just surround his car and make him sit there.

Was there another video that wasn’t linked with the mentioned “lurched forward”? Letting the car creep forward instead of just waiting for the guys that were clearing them away to finish doing so wasn’t a great move, but it also wasn’t some Charlottesville incident in the making.

How about clicking through the links already provided in the story instead of insisting every detail be laid out again, every time they are mentioned in an article?

Also a good time to point out the a newer Element isn’t particularly cheap, unless it has stratospheric mileage. And while the Accord engine should last you a long time, the other wear bits are going to replacing and will be rusty as fuck and you’ll break everything you touch.

Considering how stupefyingly steep the car got before the vehicle lost its battle with gravity, you have to hand it to the tires’ coefficient of friction. Damn near infinite number?

Even if the vehicle was stalled out, the incline of the bridge would allow gravity to roll the vehicle back out onto solid ground without harm.

The answer is the car you have, or the car you can afford with a set of Hakkapeliittas. With a good set of Hakkas, any car instantly becomes ready for the worst Colorado, Vermont or Oregon can throw at you.

Winter tires on your current car. Done. Unless you have a sports car as your DD (which frankly would be fun on winter rubber anyway), this should be all you need to do.

2000s or 2010s Suzuki SX4 in a hatch or sedan. AWD, comes in a manual, hatch versatility, good mpgs,  and used prices haven’t gone through the roof like if you wanted a Crosstrek

Forget AWD, a cheap FWD is going to get you more reliability for the money and that’s important. As a long time apartment dweller in Wester NY, what you DON’T want, is something to break on your car in the winter and need to take it to a shop because you can’t get the car on jack stands in February with 3" of packed

I’d just go shopping at David’s house. They’re all winter beaters under $3k

Subaru’s are hella expensive in any place that encounters snow. I doubt you’ll even encounter a truly “cheap” one. Except maybe the odd slammed WRX with a blow trans. Honestly, anything with AWD is going to cost a premium, going against the cheap ethos.
