The biggest problem with your story is that you live in Atlantic City and these cards are for New York, Uncle Pennybags. And you know that New Yorkers hate New Jersians.
If they aren’t trying to sneak the plate on the table when I’m not looking, I will just take the item off of the plate before they set it down and leave them holding an empty plate. If they set it down, they look foolish for setting down an empty plate. They usually take it with them.

I usually use the term “sport” for anything that is scored and “athletic endeavor” for anything that is judged. I know that most of the subjective events try to prevent a judge from screwing with the results by dropping the low and the high, but you only need two colluding judges to screw with a result.
