Conclusion: still ugly.

Which one is supposed to be the better looking one?

Lincoln is trying to rebound from two straight years of U.S. sales declines and wants to continue the momentum started by the Navigator, Nautilus and Aviator utilities.

The average consumer has no idea what’s under their hood or who made it. They want it to work, be cheap to run, and be powerful and they don’t care how that’s done. The biggest compliment engines usually get are about them being smooth and quiet which are hallmarks of electric motors.

I’m confident that in 1903, a 34-year old said this Wright aircraft nonsense would have no impact on transportation in his lifetime.

Handling and suspension tuning have nothing to do with what’s powering a car. Dynamics, packaging, design, luxury features - plenty of ways to make a car different even if the motor is the same.

Neutral: It’s no different than today. Within the full size truck segment, there is not a discernible difference between the Ram, Silverado or F-150. They get essentially the same towing, fuel economy and range. The styling and “features” are what customers are truly buying.

Genuine Q: then how do you explain tesla, uber and other self-driving cars doing relatively well* on semi-autonomous mode.

Darn computers, always doing what you told them to do and not what you wanted them to do.

Consumers are not going back to cars, even when there is a recession, high gas prices, etc. Manufacturers are all introducing smaller and cheaper crossovers, in the case of Ford they have the Ecosport. I’m an automotive sales analyst by trade, and the trend is incredibly clear. In a recession consumers can turn to the

Tesla Q1 2018 sales: 29,980

“VAG is already HEAVILY invested. The Porsche electric sedan is the death knell for the Model S.”

You’re applying sense to a nonsensical fantasy by people that don’t realize that there exist zero other EV manufacturers that can build cars PROFITABLY at Tesla’s price points.

VW is basically getting a subsidy to try to get there by not getting assfucked by the EU for dieselgate, so admittedly they may get there. But

While the other automakers are playing catch-up, and despite Tesla’s obvious challenges, they are still managing to put out great product after great product.

Show me a 35K model from another company that’s available for purchase.

The Leaf? The Bolt? How well are those doing sales-wise versus the Model 3?

I don’t doubt the Porsche will eat at some sales/force Tesla to drop the price of the Model S or refresh it, but the Model S is plenty competitive, and Tesla has more brand

People have been predicting the demise of Tesla for over 10 years now. I wouldn’t write them off yet.

I highly doubt this scenario. The newer Tesla vehicles are average in terms of build quality and reliability and they have a legitimate cost advantage already (go look at how much a Polestar 2 that won’t even be out for another year costs). Their build and reliability issues were really bad on the earlier cars but

-Everyone else who knows how to actually build stuff decides to actually build similar stuff as the startup... While doing it better, higher quality, more accessible, cheaper, etc....

Yeah I for one know Im going to drop 80k instead of 35k so I can put 200k miles on a Porsche in 6 years commuting to work. Porsche is totally gonna own Tesla.

they’ve lasted longer than what many expected though.
