so for a low, low price of over three times my mortgage, do I get to live in it?

Jalopnik has covered this asymmetrical safety design before. It’s kinda depressing, but in a fiercely-competitive industry like this, it seems like profit really does drive every decision.
Fascinating. My (apparently incorrect) assumption would be that the vehicles would be symmetrical in their construction, so it shouldn’t matter which side hits. It’s crazy that they appear so clearly “built to the test”, which previously has always focused on the driver’s side.
So you are saying cars are not made from parts sourced abroad? And that it won’t affect other prices of items produced here?
1) in·fla·tion -a general increase in prices and fall in the purchasing value of money
Ok, but $9,000 MY1996 cars are not selling for $30,000 now. A car that was $9,000 (ie a Geo Metro) is similar to a $13,000 car (Mitsubishi Mirage).
But the price for those (now domestic) goods goes up, because they’re still more expensive to produce here. Since the manufacturing capacity doesn’t already exist here, demand outstrips supply, and the prices climb even more. Money doesn’t grow on trees, so people can afford less goods and the standard of living…
I’m not arguing who’s culpable here, but there is always risk of a court decision going against you. The outcomes of the legal system have less to do with right and wrong than you think.
You have a lot of experience in a sprint car, I’m taking it.
I mean, the kid was high and ran out on an active race track. It’s not a leap to assume his judgement may have been somewhat impaired.
Hold on, you’re telling me that the VP of Engineering and Production for Tesla has no prior experience with producing cars? Why in the world would you hire someone from a phone and software engineering company (who doesn’t even do their own manufacturing) and put them in charge of engineering and producing cars?…
I am sorry that someone died but also mad that a race driver would get out of his race car, step on to a live racing track, to threaten another driver and then when that driver gets hurt/killed, let’s blame the other guy.
Well this is going to get fun.
No, it’s not. Mainly because it’s not a statistically significant sample size.
I want an autonomous luxury minivan for 90%+ of my driving. There, I said it. Most of my driving isn’t DRIVING, it’s just getting somewhere with a bunch of other people on the road. I’ll keeop an old, basic, fun car for when I want to go for a real DRIVE, but for commuting, getting groceries, or cruising along on a…
Well, when you live in an area that is desirable to live in, competition does that to the cost of living.
“You may have people cross the border to buy a truck in Nevada and not in California,” he said.
LOL... yea definitely not an idiot. I’ve been harsh on him on his over promises and under delivering with Tesla, but I would never challenge his intellectual capacity.
