“States passed the franchise laws decades ago to help the consumer.”
That’s BS. States passed franchise laws decades ago to protect dealerships from manufacturers that might swoop in and steal all their sales with a direct sale store in the same area after a dealership invested money already to promote the brand (which

If you think dealers are the good guys i really don’t know what to say. For every decent dealer there is at least 10 scumbag dealers

Now playing

Dealers lobbied franchise laws decades ago to help dealers*

Legally barring a company from using its business model is legally barring them from operating in the state.

Tesla doesn’t have any franchises to protect....canada,europe,autraila,china,japan,mexico have no problem with this, it is purely crony capitalism

Isn’t 52 MPGe kind of shit for something that is all about eco-future-vegan-motoring?

And Karma was a better name.

Either way, these never excited me too much.

“Because you can get surprisingly far on looks.”

The problem is, if they’re not changing the appearance, that means they’re probably going to use the same tooling. And if they’re using the same tooling, you can probably expect a lot of the same build quality problems.

Ford calls the Escape and Explorer both SUVs even though they clearly fit the crossover definition MikaelVroom gave. But the Edge and the Flex are crossovers because Ford wants them to be.

Or maybe I could use the lure of free flights to get more friends?

The Bolt is ugly. And I am a big Chevy guy. EVs are the future, so why design an EV that looks like it belongs in a 2006 soccer mom magazine? Plus, the Tesla has autopilot so it wins automatically.

Yea. Anyone who asks me if they should buy a Bolt, I’m going to tell them to check out the Volt while they’re at the dealership. It’s likely they’ll be going home with the one that starts with V.

Why? Because Chevy already offers this:
