This is basically how FedEx started it’s Home Delivery program. The contractor vs employee thing is also a major issue for FedEx Ground (unless they’ve squashed it recently). FedEx express drivers are employees while Ground uses “contractors”. source: I’m a former FedEx Ground HQ employee.
