It’s for head room.

Yes but remember current Tesla owners, Tesla employees, and Spacex employees are in the front of the line. Followed by people who waited in line a Tesla stores. At the end of the line are online reservation holders like me. I don’t expect delivery in the first year no matter what year they actually hit is what I’m

You don’t enter a purchase agreement until right before your car is ready for production. You do the configuration and sign the agreement.

You think he’s on a Steve Jobs level?

I wonder if the interior will evolve or not? Part of me likes how minimal it is. I’m betting they don’t hit the target dates and I won’t see delivery until 2019+. I think I have a long time to change my mind if I want.

That’s the thing. We are used to grills but they have no purpose on an electric. I personally liked the X and this front-end.

They report worldwide preordered not just US. I would guess we had around 100k left based on Model X and S sales in the US. Elon can plan it right to hit the 200k mark at the beginning of the quarter to effectively extend it. We’ve probably passed the 200k mark after the webcast though.

“sold” isn’t the correct term though. They will have a hard time delivering those too. I reserved. I can get my $1000 at any point if I choose too. Big difference between $1000 now or $35-50k now.

And with at least 115k preorders already it’s going to be awhile for anyone that gets on the list now. I’m on it now though. I had to see something first.

He’s a genius but he’s not a great speaker.

I would guess it’s not finished.

Yeah. If you are shopping what could basically be called the M3 version of the Model 3 I really doubt you would consider a base Model S. I could see some overlap in prices.

It probably won’t though. I’m betting that’s the higher end option. There is only so much you can expect out of a car for $35k.

Focus EV range is like 76 miles. All Tesla has to do is hit something like 200miles to make it a much better option.

Worst COTD

The 85kWh battery in the Model S is rated for 265 miles (EPA rating) I think. My expectation is the model 3 would have a smaller battery pack. The car is smaller but is using more steel so I’m not sure about the weight difference. I might expect that a smaller, slightly lighter Model 3 could get 300 miles using the

I’m probably going to reserve one but I’m not waiting in line. I’m also waiting until I actually see the damn thing.

Don’t forget he’s behind Tesla and spacex employees and then current owners.

“ Does Jalopnik report on everything Tesla? No they don’t.”

I’m pretty sure it’s big to a lot of people interested in cars. Even if you don’t like Tesla the fact that an upstart car manufacturer looks like it is probably going to survive was unimaginable until Tesla.
