Those articles are inaccurate. They are breaking teslas planned burn rate for investing into the gigafactory and r&d and dividing by the number of Model S’ sold. They don’t lose money on a cost to manufacture vs price to sell basis on the Model S.

Uber came to Pittsburgh claiming to want to work with Carnegie Mellon University and then stole all their talent. I’m told by my UPS driver facebook friend that they see self driving cars in the strip district almost daily.
Then you know they don’t actually lose $4,000 on the Model S.
This has grown on me. I would probably buy one. My wife hates it as it reminds her of her parents Astro.
This thing has grown on me. I really hated it at first. Now I want to drive one.
That’s pretty common for all Fiat/Chrysler products I have driven.
A bunch of people who think SUVs and CUVs are pointless discussing them. Worst column ever. Obviously the Jalopnik community and authors don’t align with the majority of American drivers.
I’m GenX. I actually paid sticker for my last used car. Only after tons of online comparison and finding that this one specific dealer was always $2000+ cheaper than the others. Probably the easiest sale that guy has ever made.
I’ve heard of a Lexus dealer 60 miles away from my small town delivering a used vehicle for someone to test drive. I was impressed. Not enough to drive a Toyota but still impressed.
I got dibs on people who don’t understand how business cashflow works.
and they love you
If you think the outside is bad go sit in one...
Ramped one of these out of my parents driveway when learning how to drive. WTF were you thinking dad?
I’m a huge Tesla fanboy after driving a Model S. This design just doesn’t make sense for a crossover. The point of a cross over is to have more utility room but still car like functionality (best way i could put it). The rear of the CUV adds no utility. So it’s basically a taller Model S with no extra cargo space.
That rear. The space isn’t usable and it looks terrible. Is there any benefit? Headroom maybe.
Sedan was great looking. I always wondered what happened to the rear of the Coupe.
100k miles. Nice car. Would love to have one. Not for 17k.
Who says they will set the margins so low on “fixed” prices?
I wear t-shirt all year. Even in the winter I can’t drive with a jacket on it’s too hot.
Any color you want so long as it’s brown
