Yes, any tips to share?

Maybe it is time for you to look around for other opportunities. Sometimes, the only way to move up is to move out.

You could have someone else work to create the deadlines with you? A manager? A coworker? Then implement rewards/penalties for missing the deadlines.

You could set mini-deadlines along the way to provide motivation.

Anyone else think that it is odd that Google tracks EVERYTHING you do while logged into their sites?

Repeat the name back to the person for confirmation.

As an example, the article yesterday on attaching your corrective lenses to swim goggles wasn't very helpful. However, the many comments indicating where new ones could be purchased for around $20 were VERY helpful.

Adam, what about when Gawker is hacked again and the username to Google + account relationship is then released?

Great post! However, I don't think Gawker's decision really has anything to do with security or this would likely change their approach.

As I recall, Nick Denton's stated reasons for doing this had something to do with the stupid comments on some of the Gawker sites.

LH commenters are better than other sites. I can understand Denton's concern about Jezebel but LH ISN"T Jezebel.

Won't that increase the pain if/when Gawker gets hacked again?

Was it about your unusual (and somewhat disturbing) username? :-)

The comments are just as valuable to me as the articles.

Agreed!

Seriously Gawker?

It must be great for stalkers at the airport. :-)

Anyone have an issue with Crashplan where it just monopolizes the hard drive for 3-5 minutes when the backup starts and renders the computer unusable? I've tried to contact Crashplan support but they haven't yet replied.

If the container is configured to look like a file, it will backup the file as it would any other file. If the container is something like an external drive with a mapped drive, it would need to be open.

It sounds like that will address the potential for criminal charges. Be sure to check on the potential for civil litigation. Even if you kill the dope addict who is in the act of killing you, his dependents may sue you for the loss of his drug-dealing income. Unfortunately, many courts would hold you liable even
