Yeah, it might, statistically. I’m not saying stealing three grand from any shop will shutter it, but petty theft like this increases the cost of business, so some shops which otherwise would be profitable shut down. You might say the same thing about stealing from a person “They aren’t going to notice if I just steal

Little inefficiencies like this harmless theft add up to some percentage of restaurants no longer being profitable. In which case, the owner and the employees are out of a job. Also, the owner isn’t always some multi millionaire who won’t even notice, It’s often a franchise owned by some guy whose livelihood depends

Really? You are OK with someone murdering someone else because that person accuses them of a crime? What is to stop any wife or husband claiming they were being abused after the murder? I mean, those people who lynched blacks in the past thought that they were rapists too.

That is the usual justification for self defence. The idea is that if it isn’t immediately reactive, the self defender had the option to leave the situation, rather than coming up with a plan and killing them later. In that case it is hardly self defence any more. I don’t think we should broaden the definition of self

I don’t really like this precedent. Maybe France should focus on finding other ways to help battered women get out of their abusive relationships.

Everyone here loved her for one reason: She was trans. Her good will had nothing to do with what she said or did, Jezebel just loved her because of who she was. And now they are realizing that just being in a minority group doesn’t automatically make you a good person.

Is it OK to make fun of someones appearance if you disagree with them? If so, I hope you never complain about negative comments women and POC receive from right wingers

Right, but if the LAPD had dismissed the knife out of hand you (or people like you) would be commenting about how incompetent the LAPD are that they won’t even examine a buried knife on the likely killers property.

That’s not what it reveals.

What does the rape rate of black men compared to white men in the US reveal about black men? Or can we only use crime statistics to stereotype a group when it already fits our worldview?

No one is saying that

When you title an article “Persistent Sexual Harassment Is a Primary Reason Women leave STEM” I would expect some research that backs that up, not just one woman talking about her experiences. Maybe call this “Persistent Sexual Harassment Is a Primary Reason One Woman left STEM”

Why is this entirely irrelevant comment the first one shown in the comments section? Just a little curious. I feel it has something to do with clover trying to reduce discussion about a topic that she doesn’t like.

Now playing

I don’t think this is where I saw it last time, but I think this is the clip I was remembering

This is pretty victim blamey.
