Perhaps, if you’re considering starting ownership at 200k. But if you put those miles on that engine yourself over the last decade the inevitable repairs are easier to stomach.

I thought it was but I've had no problems at near 150k miles.
Me too. Same color as the pic above.
Hmm, at nearly 150k miles, I’ve never had any turbo problems. Of course after 10 years of ownership I could hardly complain if it did finally crap out. Also. If you want less of a sleeper but still the same looks, the 2.5 NA model looks almost exactly the same minusthe scoop. And any sub-$5k sleeper is going to have a…
Now pushing 150k miles, my 2005 GT wagon 5MT still looks great, drives great, and hasn’t needed anything more than you’d expect for routine repairs. Haven’t even needed to do the typical head gasket yet. Sadly, Subaru doesn't sell anything in America I could replace it with.
Was there a Spec B wagon version? I need the longroof model...
I pray mine isn’t worth less than $5000 yet. Eh, I’ll never sell it anyway....
#8 FTW

Not to mention her broken left ankle.
My teens would have texted me “Dad! Daaaaaaaad!!!”. Then again, if they are inside my rolling 2005 Legacy unpiloted they probably are hosed. Hope thy leave their seatbelts on...
That kid will get his dad back when he blows through his trust fund with drugs, rehab, and therapists.

The thin obsession extends to the laptop segment with Apple. The ideal balance of being usefully thin and yet still have room for great battery life was a few generations of MacBook ago. Since then, like with iPhones, Apple has been squeezing more millimeters out of the size for vanity alone and keeping the battery…
Smug. You're getting smug, for that price tag.
If we are going to wonder about the fit and finish of other automakers’ second models ever built, then we should compare the relative prices. Did Honda’s second model ever built cost the equivalent of $150k at the time? Did Ford’s?
These guys peel out to impress people, right? But the risk/reward is so out of balance that there’s no point in doing it. Peel out perfectly and the 12 yokels nearby will cheer but no video of it will ever be shared. Peel out and crash and, congratulations, the video of your humiliation as you destroy the beloved…
Guess what my totally analog, manual car has never done?
Hells yeah, I remember each day.
I remember a battle like that when I was a kid. An old TR4 keeping up with and definitely outracing a much newer (at the time) 944. Driver skill means a lot.
