Yeah I thought of LA Confidential because corruption + hookers getting plastic surgery. I mean at least they're not getting cut to look like celebrities. But maybe Ani will whisper Rolo Tomassi at some point.

Ugh agree. It's like showing every single scene of Jesse Pinkman selling someone meth. All the scenes were the same.

Goldberg and Krumholtz are my Kavelier and Clay (Goldberg as Kavalier, Krumholtz as Clay). Not particularly relevant. Yet true.

Where's my Andrew Garfield/Ben Schwartz fraternal twins comic hijinx?

I have this prediction that he's going to just do comedy for the rest of his career and become like Leslie Nielsen where someday we'll be explaining to younguns "No no, he used to be on this serious dramatic show, that's how he first got famous." And they'll be like, "What? The guy who played Captain Shart in Space

I vote Obama vs. Adomian as Bernie Sanders.

He might be one of the few guests not to say 'I've been around Los Angeles plenty of times and I don't know where I am right now.'
Go Eagles!

Yeah it's not just "so bad it's funny"- to me it's way beyond that. Like Troll 2 or Birdemic are fun for a laugh but The Room is really compelling and strange. I mean yeah it's terrible and it makes no sense superficially but it's also getting inside the mind of this weird weird WEIRD dude.

No one should be encouraging Tumblr's culture of taking anonymous asks as absolute truth, it's horrendous.

Ah! That is important distinction. I should probably rewatch sometime. I probably had a very different mindset back then, may be clouding my judgement in hindsight.

That's interesting because I've watched all of both and The Sopranos always left me cold- I could appreciate it for its greatness but always in a very detached way that left me shrugging. I never felt invested. Whereas I'm very invested in Mad Men. I think partly because a giant theme of The Sopranos was 'people don't

I did give them money (not much-a little) but I have been mulling the argument against it. But here's the thing- given the option, I don't mind throwing a little dough at someone whose work I know enjoy so they can do something they want to do without getting it messed with by suits. That's not to say there isn't

Oh haha but in all seriousness:
Aronofsky for Fantasia.
Von Trier for The Little Mermaid (he'd really get off on her being struck mute)
Haneke for Pinnocchio.
Herzog for Bambi.

What, you don't like the constant retreading of old material and creative apathy?? Sheesh.

I think it's more like deaths from heroin overdoses are waaaaay up as is heroin use generally.

"Alright, what else ya got?"

My favorite Comedy Bang Bang podcast ep ever is the Black Friday episode with Harris, Adomian, P.F.T., Kroll, Michael Cera… It's the first one with Foam Corner (I think?). I have no idea how many times I've listened to it. I've got it practically memorized.

Peretti has the sexiest laugh I've ever heard. Every time she's on the Comedy Bang Bang podcast…ayeee.

My mom had me watch it when I was about 12- that's the scene I remember most.  Very funny.
