I got the following email today from DePaul, which did not make the list, but was in the news just last week w/r/t students demanding accountability. It's encouraging, if it's anything more than lip service. They make a very good point towards the end about why they can't publicize results of internal investigations

A number of the schools that are on the list are "super liberal, super feminist." It hasn't helped them much.

I had a similar experiences with Washington University in St. Louis. I called the school's Sexual Assault and Rape Anonymous Helpline (SARAH), as I was too depressed and ashamed to go to even leave my room, and I was able to talk to a counselor. It really made a difference in me deciding to report what happened at

I think it's the Disneyworld Security line of thinking. When you go to Disney, there is security EVERYWHERE. Thing is, you don't see it. And you don't see it because Disney consciously decided to dress their security personnel like regular employees. They did research and found that just having uniformed security

Really, name a school hasn't mishandled sexual violence between students! I'd love to know. Bring a lawsuit against any US school and I'd be willing to beg there would be violations. All it takes is money (lawyer fees) and a lot of adult support....you could sue any university in the country. It should really be a

I am actually very proud of the University of Oklahoma for kicking Trey Metoyer off the football team for the grotesque shit he's pulled

Notre Dame gave zero fucks about Lizzy Seeberg, less than zero fucks about Declan Sullivan, and I give even less than zero fucks about your defense of a university (and entire culture) that protects rapists of women and children. That idiotic school made a bigger deal out of Manti T'eo's fake girlfriend than Seeberg

... Or that the schools actually take sexual violence seriously and don't go around constantly violating Title IX.

My school, Iowa State University, is not on the list above. For good reason.

I just want to give props to my alma mater, the University of Wisconsin. When they found out that one of their football recruits was being investigated for rape—not even formally charged yet, just being investigated, although he would later go on to be charged—they . . . actually rescinded the offer to let him play

so what? It doesn't mean that other schools shouldn't be under investigation.

if sexual assault is common at Sarah Lawrence and Occidental (super progressive liberal feminist schools) and the admin is not responding well, it is 100 times worse elsewhere. This is the tip of the iceberg. And I tip my hat to these brave students. They are making the world better for everyone...it will just take

Consider me concerned that UC Riverside is not on that list considering I knew two people personally who were assaulted there (past tense is because I lost contact with them after high school).

Not being on the list only indicates that no students there have been tenacious enough to file suit through the legal system - or that they haven't received enough support from faculty and outside parties. It says nothing at all about the prevalence of assault in those schools.

not really. It just means that Sarah Lawrence students are aware of the problem and are speaking up and willing to press legal suits. I'd be willing to bet my bottom dollar that sexual assault is less a problem at Sarah Lawrence than at, say Florida State. But Sarah Lawrence students feel more empowered to speak up

Pushback: it also means that if it's happening in places where students feel empowered to 1- know it's wrong and 2- complain to the proper authorities, imagine what's happening elsewhere.

My private school alma mater is on this list, pretty famously. The effing trouble I had to go through (including MY MOM having threaten the school) when I was robbed by a fellow student taught me to keep it to myself when I was raped by a fellow student. They stopped calling me for donations when I told them I refused

I'm actually glad to see my alma mater on here. Maybe this will force them to get their damn act together!

When this is the stereotype that millions of Americans grow up with, it's not surprising they are viewed in a demeaning manner.

It's unfortunate that men of color so often see the goal as gaining access to the white patriarchy rather than dismantling it.
