My dog is named for David Foster Wallace and you have just given me an idea for his costume next year. Now to figure out how to secure the bandana to his head.

This is my new favorite thread today. My dad is obsessed with this family recipe for apple pudding (pudding in the cake sense) and my grandmother decided to try to make it for him, but she made actual pudding instead. It was sweet, but different.
Is that the one that made me cry so hard I couldn't breathe as a wee one?
I swear, these are fond memories now, but two of my earliest memories of not being one of the cool kids are Halloween related. We lived with my grandma through most of elementary. She was really crafty and good at sewing and made me pretty much any costume I ever wanted, even though I didn't trick or treat much. Just…
I have a pretty good relationship with the vet, and he knows I'm a worrier, so were this me, I'd probably call and ask. It won't hurt to advise them on what's up and get their read on it.
My only tree was cut down a couple of years ago by the County. After growing up raking leaves every weekend in the fall and some weekdays, I can't say I miss them that much. I don't even own a rake now. I just run over any leaves that sneak in with my mower if I need to.
I've never had the opportunity to use it, but "You'll all have chins" is the threat I think I'm most likely to use.
I have a work party on Friday that ensures I will consume a ton of grilled veggies and greek seven layer dip. So I'm just biding my time until then. Although part of me wants to make up something nice to counteract this evening's debate. Maybe I'll do a fresh marinara.
Needles in your face, pleasure in your base.
Snack size Hersheys with Almonds, Almond Snickers, Hot Tamales, and Tootsie Roll Frooties. Cherry, lime, and vanilla are the best ones.
I'm still getting tomatoes from my garden so I've been doing as much as I can to enjoy them while I have them. That mostly means a lot of mexican and tomato/mozzarella salad.
So many awesome answers! Mine are: Come Thou Font of Every Blessing off Sufjan's Christmas album. When the melody drops out and he just does the verse alone, it's pretty wonderful, Song for Dennis Brown - The Mountain Goats, and both Freedom Calling and Beautiful World by Colin Hay.
Strange Currencies — great choice. I remember driving to a family vacation and using the back button on my discman over and over for that song. It fit my 15 year old ennui so well.
There's a BBQ place here in town where they have different stars who've visited sign the menus and post them around the line and dining area. On several where they aren't legible and/or aren't clear who the star is, they added a label with who they are and why one might know them. Just last week I saw Elisabeth Shue's…
It doesn't look like the spaetzle I've seen, but I bet it's similar.
I am so sorry. I've adopted mine just over six years ago and got him as an adult, so I totally understand where you're coming from. I waste a lot of time pining over what he looked like as a puppy, or where he got different scars. Crossing fingers that the meds help and he's back in business soon. Enough time is a…
They started. It was on last night. And either they started a while ago, or they started at a really odd place because the eps were from the second to last season.
Happy birthday! Are you eating the Cheez-its now, in preparation for the birthday? Or tomorrow on the birthday itself?
It's not a meal, but my favorite passed down food is fried noodles. My German great grandmother used to make homemade egg noodles and then pan fry them in butter. So yummy. My grandma made them with the frozen egg noodles because she was not about to spend time making homemade pasta, but my mom recently started making…
The Westing Game. I reread it every couple of years, and I just love it so much. But I don't know how you could film it and preserve the twist. It would be pretty visually obvious I think.
