Perhaps you haven't been paying attention, but there is a regular series entitled "what is japan's fetish this week?" as well as a "what is America's fetish this week?" To say Japan is into S&M isn't to imply that other places AREN'T... this is the article about Japan. So it's going to be about Japan, not other

Don't get my hopes up :(

I'd totally buy an Elly or Citan (with sword) figure (for a reasonable price). Xenogears had such wonderful characters.

Man, this game is so good. The final level (from the bathhouse to the end) is probably one of the best in the whole medium. Definitely in my top ten. Also, the fact that it's so VERY short means I can easily just pick it up and play through the whole thing on a whim, which is a quality I much appreciate in games.

I actually only watched the "LUIGI KILLS MARIO WITH A GUN" one. And the worst thing? I KNEW it would be trash! I mean, just based on the title and static image I knew it would be the trashiest, least funny sprite flash Newgrounds video (not dissing NG, btw... just saying that the sucky stuff there is REALLY sucky).

"1)Fanservice involves being able to relate your experience to your friends and not be embarrassed."

You're right to single out that sentence... I wasn't very clear. I was trying to be clever and basically say that MGS4's story was embarrassing and asinine and is the sort of thing that people would point to when they say that videogames don't have good stories. I'm saying that MGS3's story is, if not as good as,

You make some good points, but I have to argue about one of them: Portable Ops. Your claim that the plot of PO clearly sets things up for MGS4, particularly hinting at Zero and whatnot, is a very logical one given the order release, BUT there's one problem: Portable Ops was announced after MGS4. At least, I'm almost

RE: MGS2 being un-sequelable. Sorry, I should've explained that more. What I meant by "un-sequelable" was that Kojima ended the game with a clusterfuck of plot developments that I'm almost certain he had no intention of actually resolving. When Kojima made MGS1, he wasn't specifically planning any sequels, but he

Hearted, dude. You said it way better than I did.

Fanservice != quality, though. Fanservice is just "give the fans what they want," and in most cases fans want stupid things, like bringing back every single freaking character in the whole series and it turns out they're all integral to the plot in a very contrived, convoluted way. Why couldn't EVA just be EVA? No,

On one hand, I'm a huge fan of Risk and MGS. On the other hand, MGS4's plot was retarded and awful and I have to pretend it doesn't exist to love the rest of the series. On the OTHER hand, this game sounds crazy fun. Not sure if want.

That Mario article was beyond awful. Protip: if you must read it (though really, don't), don't watch the videos. Ughhhhhhhhhhh

Hearted

Need Atlas and P-Body figures so badly.

I'm pretty sure the light arrows, in general, are a Triforce of Wisdom thing. In some games, Link gets them as an item, but whenever Zelda has them I think it's the Triforce's doing. And as for Courage, I always just figured it was a passive effect... it gives Link the courage and good fortune he needs to be the

That link.... O.o

Actually, it still is "Dragon Warrior VII." Unlike every game before it in the series, it has yet to be ported or remade. I started playing it in May, and, on account of it being the summer, managed to beat it in 2 and a half months. I wasn't bored for a second, though.

I definitely see myself doing that... I absolutely LOVE Dragon Quest. In the past 10 months, I've beaten 4, 5, 6, and 7 (7 just last week), and even though I planned to stop after 7, I started 8 a few days ago (even though it was my introduction to the series and I beat it many years ago). I already have 9, and I
