Man, I have such mixed feelings about this. I absolutely LOVE Halo, both the gameplay and the universe, but without Bungie this new trilogy is a complete unknown. I think unless people whose opinions I trust and respect tell me it's a great game I won't buy it.

Sweet Jesus Star Wars looks awful. It seems Microsoft has invented the next step from Wii's "waggle:" FLAIL.

I have covered my body in Xbox Live subscription cards! Though I currently inhabit a pre-controller body, soon my 4000-year transformation shall be complete and I will finally become a controller!

@DocSeuss: Ah, but you're forgetting that those of us who live in Central time are trained from the earliest days of TV-watching to subtract one hour from EVERYTHING automatically :P

That is FREAKING GREAT. I seriously hope this is actually the case. I LOVE IT. Also, it would make the old phrase "playing nintendo" into an actual specific statement.

Now playing

Nope, there aren't any piranhas, either. They don't appear until 1-2. This video shows the whole level.

I was going to mention the lack of bullet bills and piranha plants in 1-1, but I'm glad to see my fellow Kotakuites are as vigilant as ever.

@Jandau: I thought the same thing. We're horrible people.

Holy crap that is amazing box art.

GOOD GRIEF that boxart is awful

Kinda weird that there's no Portable Ops. Sure, it's probably the worst game in the series, but the series is so great that even its worst entry was a lot of fun, and its plot is still canon, so it just seems weird to leave it out.

@Petey 2 Kold: Good point. People always seem to forget that when something is obviously a matter of opinion, people often state their opinions without bothering to specifically identify as such. If I say "Final Fantasy XIII sucks," what I REALLY MEAN (unless I'm a douchey troll) is "in my opinion, Final Fantasy

@DatBoyFresh: That was my first thought, too! But only the general feel is Leifield-ey, and the artwork is very good, IMHO. Notice that the characters are all reasonably proportioned and that their feet are a) visible and b) not diamond-shaped.

@Shiryu: holy cow that is awesome

@GMM: Even for its time I thought Morrowind was kinda ugly. The architecture was fascinating and interesting, sure, but it never really looked GOOD. And of course technical things like draw distance and the awful character animations were a big issue, too.

Hot damn, a new Tim Rogers article!
