Can I ask what exactly happens at a 3 day wedding party/retreat?

I have lived in the south for 36.5 of my 37 years and I’ve never attended a wedding that took place over an entire weekend. Seems like a wealthy person thing, not really a southern thing. 

I grew up in the South where the three-day wedding weekend is pretty common. Friday is the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner (generally just for the wedding party and out-of-town guests). Saturday’s for the wedding and reception, of course— and maybe there’s some organized thing (golf?) in the morning for out-of-towners,…

not uncommon. They just call it a 3 day wedding retreat to sound fancy, it the same things most weddings do. Friday night you have wedding rehearsal and small dinner afterward. Saturday is the wedding, Sunday is a brunch for the out of towners who stayed the night and are leaving later that day.  

Yes, and as much as I hate to give them even a small portion of credit, Jared and Ivanka were likely fine with that -- it would be awkward af to sit with the likes of Katy Perry and Diane Von Furstenberg knowing they think you’re complete trash (correctly, of course). 

Let’s be real, Karlie and Josh invited them to be there on Thursday. Only Thursday.

Can I ask what exactly happens at a 3 day wedding party/retreat? It seems almost exclusively a rich people thing and I just can’t wrap my head around attending all 3 days of it unless each day was drastically different. Hell I would struggle to attend 3 consecutive nights of drinks with my best friends, let alone days…
