Im actually on the last chapter of Dune right now! Kind of proud of myself for seeing it through as I'm not typically a bug reader. It’s a great book.

I will say I was watching the video and a giant pop up ad appeared directly over it. Definitely gave me a good chuckle.
This is great for people that didn't get a PS4 though. Think of how amazing that value is if you haven't played these games.
This is exactly the wrong way to advertise to the type of people that watch Twitch streamers. Literally anything else would work better than interrupting a live show to show a random commercial. Just force people to watch a commercial when they first log in or something.
It’s when they beam advertisements and microtransactions directly into your eyeballs.
That’s exactly what it is, and I personally think it’s a genius move. They’re essentially selling a Game Pass/Fortnite/Fifa machine that will be more than enough for your average casual gamer person. If they bundle 3-6 months of Game Pass Ultimate with this, it’s a no brainer for anyone that doesn’t care about 4K or…
And yet, they were able to discern between an SNES and an NES, or a 3DS and a 2DS, or a Switch and a Switch Lite, or a PS4 and PS4 Pro. Just because people are old doesn’t make them stupid, and they probably just tell the Gamestop employee exactly what they’re supposed to buy. I really don’t see this being an issue.
That’s not the point of the console. It’s basically a game pass machine, it’ll run everything fine at 1080p for people that just want something to play. This isn’t designed for people that read Kotaku, but it’ll have an audience.
It’s not that complicated. Sure, a grandparent buying it for a child is definitely a situation where someone might be confused, but how common is that? It’s a really weird example to keep coming back to.
I really want to know more about the capabilities of this thing, because I was considering switching to PS5 as my primary system for the next generation. If I can play all the XBOX exclusives and game pass on this in quality as good as or better than my One X, I’m 100% in. Then I can get both.
Yep. It’s not an exaggeration, they suck and have done so for many years, and everytime you think they’ve learned their lesson they pull some shit like this. They’re asking to be hated on, and they deserve it completely.
Nah, not possible. This is definitely an article to be offended over. For sure.
I just saw it’s coming to the drive in near me on Sept. 11 so I’ll probably check it out that way, but I’d still much rather pay a premium and watch it at home. That way I can tweak my speaker levels and actually hear what people in the movie are saying.
This 100%. Nobody should be going to an enclosed space with a bunch of strangers for any reason.
Is it really that highly anticipated? What’s making people want it? We don’t know anything about the pricing, there aren’t any exciting exclusive games coming out in the foreseeable future, and we really don’t even know what the improvements over the current gen are beyond some fancy numbers and jargon.
As someone who buys a lot of older games I missed on ebay for under $10, I do find value in the disc drive. However, there won’t really be “older games” for a very long time being a new system, so I’m a bit conflicted on which way to go.
Which I do not get, as it’s really not that hard to make a decent Halo game. The engine and gameplay to most of the work, you just have to hang it on a story that isn’t too convoluted and feels exciting and maybe rips off James Cameron a bit. Why 343 is having such a struggle remains a mystery to me.
Honestly, I think it needs to go as far as it can in order to produce any sort of change. It’s easy for most white Americans to ignore a BLM protest, or pretend covid isn’t real because they haven’t been directly effected by it, or to say “blue lives matter too!” because one of their friends from high school is a cop…
Usually I find complaining about this sort of thing dumb, but the slideshow format is incredibly terrible. Between the slideshows and the reformatting of some of the pages like Kotaku, it’s like they’re trying to get me to stop reading out of annoyance.
Production companies just want to take the name/basic concept of a game, and strip out all of the things that fans actually like about it. Then it bombs and they all wonder why.
