No, the US would never fight over Taiwan. There is nothing to gain for the US in a conflict with China over Taiwan. Those of us living on the island have accepted that fact for a very long time now.

if conflict escalates into all out war between US/Russia or US/China, all 3 would be pulled in. No one would be sitting pretty afterwards.

Except any conflict the US has been involved in since WWII have not been about preservation of rights and protection of oneself. It has always been about expansion of economic and political influences.
