Also, they’ve had to change their names so many times over the past few years that by the time I finish saying that they’re currently “Academi” that it will probably change again.

The Oscars are about the awards themselves. The Game Awards are as much about the awards as the MTV Movie Awards (perhaps even less so).  There is room for both in the game arena as well.  There is no reason the Academy of Interactive Media can’t present industry awards at an industry show like E3.  (Heck, their

You are correct. I meant to type “intentional association.” I wanted to edit that when I noticed it but I was on my phone and Kinja does not play nice with my old Android.

Yes, though, casual ableism is still ableism.

You’re not kidding.  I was watching a live stream.  Every time they saw a black person they had to have their picture taken with them as if to reassure themselves that they have the support of black people.  “I can’t be racist, I once went to a rally where there was a black lady.”

I watched a couple of hours of livestreaming from last night, trying to understand their thought process and it was an interesting study in cognitive dissonance. They were walking around the city and looking for Antifas to fight, proclaiming how much better they were than the Antifas who don’t support the police and

There is certainly a lot of overlap and a lot of similarities and I am certainly not denying the concept of ableism. But this particular comparison is between using the term “blind” without association (or empathy) to disability and using homosexual identities as slurs.

I wonder if there are federal crimes that he committed as well.  That’s the only thing a federal pardon would do for him.

Do you honestly think the term is being used to referred to window shades? Or hunting stands? Of all the arguments, “You don’t know it means unseeing ‘blind,’” is one of the weakest. Of course it means a lack of foresight. (Huh, “No Foresight” might be a good tag.)

I disagree strongly with Mr. Spohn on his analogy with homophobic slurs. I have never seen the term “blind playthrough” used in a negative connotation or intended to slander members of the disabled community. I can empathize with his resistance to the casual, and arguably flippant, use of a term that he feels should

As someone pointed out earlier, the Un and Uri would be written similarly enough to be the same.  The English equivalent would be claiming it’s not him because you spelled it “Ury.”  Going back to my earlier response to another comment, it would like naming a dancing character Justan Timberlake and using it in

It is not covered as parody. There’s a fine line between calling the character Un Geller and having it bend spoons and giving it a funny name like a Garbage Pail Kid and Nintendo stepped over it.

It’s not referenced.  They called it Un Geller.  If I put a character in a game and call it Justin Timberlake you can damn well believe I’m getting a call from his lawyers.

Read the article.  The character wasn’t named Kadabra at inception.

Global recognition has zip all to do with the legitimacy of his claim. They created a spoon bending character with his name. What they later called it in other markets is irrelevant.

Clearly the person who named the character did.

They named the card (and the character) after him. It very much is his card and his choice whether to allow them to use his name or not.

That stream is the reason there is now two TVs in my game room (albeit due to space issues, one is much smaller than his).

There is nothing new here. This is standard operating procedure for McMahon. He drove Sgt. Slaughter out of the (then) WWF in the 80s because he insisted on getting money from GI Joe.

Let’s just get this out of the way, address the elephant in the room, and acknowledge that having wealth, oil, and a royal title doesn’t exclude you from being a piece of s---.

Adam Cole’s involvement in UUDD leads me to believe that his YouTube account (and more importantly its monetization) fall under this division of WWE. (Not sure what it's called now; it was "New Media" back when Shane McMahon was running it.)
