There is certainly a lot of overlap and a lot of similarities and I am certainly not denying the concept of ableism. But this particular comparison is between using the term “blind” without association (or empathy) to disability and using homosexual identities as slurs.

I wonder if there are federal crimes that he committed as well.  That’s the only thing a federal pardon would do for him. 

Do you honestly think the term is being used to referred to window shades? Or hunting stands? Of all the arguments, “You don’t know it means unseeing ‘blind,’” is one of the weakest. Of course it means a lack of foresight. (Huh, “No Foresight” might be a good tag.)

It is not covered as parody. There’s a fine line between calling the character Un Geller and having it bend spoons and giving it a funny name like a Garbage Pail Kid and Nintendo stepped over it.  

It’s not referenced.  They called it Un Geller.  If I put a character in a game and call it Justin Timberlake you can damn well believe I’m getting a call from his lawyers.

Global recognition has zip all to do with the legitimacy of his claim. They created a spoon bending character with his name. What they later called it in other markets is irrelevant.  

Clearly the person who named the character did. 

They named the card (and the character) after him. It very much is his card and his choice whether to allow them to use his name or not.

Sorry to disappoint, but I recall reading that they are not bringing back Slappy at this time, same for the Goodfeathers, and Rita and Runt. 

I believe he was in some footage/line drawings shown at NYCC, but I’m not sure. I think they are not bringing in any of the extended cast for Season 1, so no Bernadette Peters (Rita), Sherri Stoner (Slappy), or Frank Welker (Runt). I suppose anyone can play Chicken Boo so he may still be in play.
