That's not quite true. You can make something look like something else, even if they have a "design patent" (which is different, and much less valuable, than a utility patent) so long as it's not identical (and this is far from identical). Now, if he's calling them "iPad cutting boards" then he's infringing on a

Wednesday is the Palm announcement... hopefully that's a bit better.

You're doing it backwards.

Really? I thought it was pretty cheezy seeing as how they are owned by an Italian company now. And it was just really cheezy in general...

I could get 1,000 lb ft of torque out of a lawnmower if I gear it down below 1RPM. Torque is a completely meaningless stat. It's the shape of the torque curve that matters, and that's it. I'm not defensive, I'm just annoyed at everyone spouting off torque stats like it has any sort of meaning at all. HP and torque

This is stupid. Torque is all about gear ratios. What matters is the shape of your torque curve in relation to RPM, not how much peak torque you have. Power and gear ratios is what defines how much you can tow.

Japan did it.

Um... what is up with the delayed post and the 5 second advertisement? Booo!

@archercc: Yeah, it's definitely an uphill battle. I think HP just needs to stick with it and put some good advertising out there. If they can pull in Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc, then people would have a real alternative to the iPad. The OS itself is awesome, they just need to get over the "they don't have any

@MauricioHavok: Are you scanning the book yourself or are you downloading an illegal copy? Ripping a CD is fine but downloading other people's rips and sharing rips is not (and if you are using torrents, you are also sharing).

My current realistic dream car is a Lotus Elise with a ski/snowboard rack and snow tires. At least for the winter.

@kaffenated: I'm imagining 10 consecutive screens of "are you sure you want to buy this book in the app and not CLICK HERE TO BUY THE BOOK FROM AMAZON.COM"

@archercc: Look out for the Feb 9th Palm Pad announcement, if you're thinking about possible tablet alternatives. If it takes off, it's spectacularly easy to re-write iOS apps for Web OS.

So can Amazon/Sony whoever just do something like this:

@SBP1: But the app itself doesn't offer customers the ability to purchase books outside of the app. The app allows users to read books that were purchased outside the app, but the app itself (if the link to the browser were removed as coirbidh suggested) does not offer customers the ability to purchase books outside

@MauricioHavok: That's great, but it's also technically illegal.

yes please!
