Chuck killed a guy and switched his body, pulling out his teeth Novocaine-style to make it look like he was there. He appears at the end of the finale with a hatchet and yells “surprise, motherfucker!”

Dammit. I’m going to miss this universe terribly.
This is a really key moment in the show that is often overlooked. Jimmy’s actions at the hearing could be somewhat justified as self-defense against Chuck’s relentless grudge against him. But that petty, completely unnecessary action of letting the insurance agent know about Chuck’s condition, really set events in…
Personally, I blame whoever gave him the gun and told him it was “cold” (I think it was the AD). You’re not supposed to say a gun isn’t loaded if you haven’t made sure of it yourself. That’s the protocol.
You have to be a cynical, cold-hearted person to be a con man and this episode peeled it all back and showed what really lies beneath his cons.
Very long; did read. Worth it.
Damn, that’s good.
Apply to a.v. club my dude. This comment could be a featured article and is way better than anything they have up right now.
really enjoy this take.
Something I just realized after finishing this episode: Jimmy is always at his most vengeful when people attempt to hold themselves accountable. Note how his true rage at Howard started when Howard confessed that he felt responsible for Chuck’s death. When Kim comes in to sign the divorce settlement, his performance…
I don’t know - maybe because they were upset by the news and just wrote out a quick message without thinking about if it was perfectly worded?
Why would any director with options choose to work with WB Discovery again after this? Maybe they would for a big payday but is a studio that is permenantly shelving nearly complete work for a tax writeoff really going to offer that?
The news was rumored to have broken during El Arbi’s wedding; indeed, he commented on his Instagram statement that he was now “gonna try to enjoy [his] honeymoon.”
Seems pretty obvious that they meant “critical to us” based on the second sentence. And I would imagine that being able to see a project come to fruition is critical for anyone who spends a lot of time working on a project.
Five features (not counting Batgirl), two shorts, and several TV episodes, including two for Ms. Marvel, which they also executive produced.
The callous treatment seems enough to give any ... pause about working with the company, but particularly about dipping their toes into the shambles of ...
To be honest, it seems like most of these questions can be answered with “we’re seeing the cons that work”; in pretty much any of these scenarios, the trio would just cut their losses and move on to the next mark. About the only one that would pose a significant enough problem that couldn’t just be walked away from is…
WHAT???? Nonsense...she simply rejected him.
There is a lot to unpack with how amazing the episode was but it must be said... the editing was on fire this episode! The transitions from past to present especially the one with the shallow grave was some of the best editing in either series. Bravo editor!
People compared Dark to Stranger Things. I can no longer be fazed.
