So much this. Mass Effect may not have the best animations in the business right now, but they are so much better than any number of games that are held on absolute pedestals that I don’t even know how to compute this vitriol.

I don’t know, some of these remakes have been very, very cool. I loved Voltron as a kid, but the remake Netflix has been doing is better in pretty much every way. Better narrative, better character development, better animations, even less repetition. I’ve got plenty of nostalgia for the shows of my childhood, but

Now playing

Have you seen the video with the new cast of DuckTales singing the theme song?

I totally get that, and I wouldn’t complain if they eventually did something similar but if I was going to change anything, I’d probably add some kind of mechanic for pulling out a new weapon from your list without having to go into a menu (a long press of the attack button or something similar that pulls out first

There are definitely some interesting things at play here. I’m curious how much the rhetoric of colonialism is going to be reinforced or critiqued (there are definitely some pitfalls that would be easy to fall into there).

In the little video bit I was listening to the computers voice was...a little grating. Might just be me though...maybe I’ll get used to it (or maybe it’ll sound better when I’m not playing on my dinky laptop speakers).

Actually more than anything, this is what I like about Breath of the Wild’s durability mechanic. While I can see why a lot of people want to be able to keep their weapons, I love the scrabble that is caused whenever you break a weapon (though I wish the inventory management was better...the pausing combat in the

Really?!? That’s freaking awesome...would have never guessed that one.

They scratch the same itch that Dark Souls (and games like it) do for me. But just like with Dark Souls, I spend a lot of the time being (excitedly) scared even as the edges of my skill are tested. They are a lot of fun to fight...but they also make me cautious....very cautious.

I actually skipped that one (snuck around him grabbing the arrows I needed after trying, and failing, to fight him like 4 times, planning to go back soon). I did work up the courage to fight some later ones, and went through an insane amount of equipment to do so. Three powerful shields just trying to keep from

I’ve managed to take down two so far. On the first I went through three stat level 40+ shields. I don’t know if this is normal, but the one I fought (out in the a snowy area in front of one of the labyrinths) had two massive AOE attacks, one where he would jump high into the air and slam down with enough force to

I loved that one. I took one look at it and knew from the environment exactly what I needed to do. I saw our favorite bardic birdy below and didn’t even bother to go talk to him, just pulled out one of my metal weapons and planted on top of the shrine.

I so desperately need to try this. I actually love all the fights with giant creatures...they always have a unique mechanic of some kind (minor spoilers about one of those mechanics to follow). It took me a long time to figure out that the heart of the giant rock beasts was often on their head (mostly because I was

It’s like the question of how many bites it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop...the world may never know, I certainly won’t :)

I want to talk briefly about my experience with this game and why I think it fully deserves the accolades it is getting. Honestly, I don’t want to tell you you’re wrong (in most ways, you aren’t...reviews are very subjective as we well know) but talking the game helps me think about why I love it, and the ways I love

Playing on wii u, so I don’t know on that front. And in regards to the master sword, I don’t have it yet but I have come across a very small number of weapons with alternate mechanics. I’m not going to spoil anything, but I’m fairly sure the master sword will be interesting and worthwhile (as some of these other

Is it bad that I actually really love the way this works?

Minor mechanic spoilers...

Which, admittedly, sounds amazing. I may not always love Destiny as a game (though I often do) but their concept art is always REALLY good...and I love Mass Effect :)

Lol. I was thinking something along these lines. This game is so far out that I don’t even want to know anything about it yet. I enjoy a good hype train (anticipation is sometimes part of the joy of games for me...even if I sometimes don’t end up the final product) but trying to start advertising for a game this
