The Nurburgring operators are evidently terrorists - they are demanding their own country!

$5 a gallon? WTF? I paid $3.50 for 93 octane 2 days ago... Y'all getting reamed.

Reverse: System upgrade - I know that automakers are cramming as much tech into their cars as they can, but the first time a botched system upgrade futzes with the drive by wire steering or throttle, and we're going to have some fun. Software currently comes with a big disclaimer about no liability or fitness for

They at least showed it some respect - when someone dies in an accident, they normally put a white sheet over themso the body isn't hanging out for the hoi polloi to gawk at. Here they covered up part of the car with the red sheet instead...

I confess not to understand the whole "tributo" thing... It sounds like a manufacturer doing the same thing that we see in NPOCP where someone has tarted up a Sebring with Mercedes badging and some fiberglass... We make fun of it there, and I don't see why we shouldn't here.

I always loved the bullet bumpers on the 1960 , but the one pictured here that I saw this weekend with the suicide doors has always been closer to my heart. Still, NP, though. Very classy.

Loved mine - cut my wrench teeth on it. The CV boots tore, and I didn't notice until I started hearing the "thunk thunk thunk" from the wheel well every turn. I figured "How hard can it be?" and got both half-shafts from NAPA. As long as I was in there, I decided I'd replace the damn ticking hydraulic lifters, the

Not tame if you drive her right - Hope you're recovering!

Didn't realize Sandy was red - looks like she's holding up pretty well. Glad she's got someone who loves her.

Coming up on 8 years in August... The last warranties (clutch pedal assembly and the motor) will be up then. I have no plans to let her go - my oldest daughter literally breaks into tears if the subject of replacing that car comes up. She is adamant that she will learn to drive in that car, and it will be hers...

Wow - I was just searching for Z8s this morning - good luck finding one for <$100,000 (except, perhaps this one). There was one at $88K advertising itself as "the cheapest Z8 in the country!"

I hope that it is required study in current engineering programs. The engineer designed something that couldn't be assembled in the field, the general contractor modified the design without consultation, the operator exceeded max number of people - end result? 114 funerals.

Not the first time that in-the-field modifications have caused safety issues. Hopefully when that corner fails he won't take anyone else with him

Somehow I knew that you'd be keying in on that part of the Morning Shift... I want to see it too - hopefully we get something that has some cues, but is made for the now.

One would think that with an installation entitled "Burning Beasts" that there would be a Ferrari in there somewhere... Although of course it is intended as "art" which is supposed to confound our expectations, using the cognitive dissonance to jar us out of our rut of conventional thinking and reassess our own

I *hate* LED tailights. Many of the newer cars have ones that are too bright at night, and it makes it more difficult to see anything except the burned in tailight pattern in my eyes.

I'm actually kind of surprised that GM hasn't sent their lawyers out to repossess the stolen property... They aren't normally that sanguine about such things

Because, unless you're driving 200K on a track, you're going to have to deal with the thousands of complete idiots out there on the road with you. That's Jeeves' job. There's even a little desk back there that you can rest the laptop on to surf Jalopnik while you're being driven around.

It sounds like Elon wants some extra 'focus group' time before letting the dingoes take his baby. Makes sense, actually - kind of like a 'soft open' at a restaurant to iron out the kinks before letting everybody in for the grand reveal.

It's a tough problem (that really needs to be solved)... I just wouldn't anticipate that matching velocities and individually grabbing stuff is the best approach... Let me know how the tractor beam thing goes :)
