As I was playing Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age I kept coming back to Ni No Kuni, if it had the two times speed option I think I’d have liked the game far more. As that game was just too damn slow moving both in pacing and animations. Hope the second one is better.

How could Basch be the lead character when Balthier is the leading man?

I’m a pretty self-centered, egotistical guy. I like being right, I’ll admit that up front.

There’s a beautiful meta moment about exactly halfway through the game where Balthier asks Vaan why he’s even there, and the rest of the party just looks at him and leaves. Vaan never has an answer for this.

As a longtime rider for FFXII, I am ELATED that this version is coming out and getting its proper due. To this day, I’ve never been as completionist about a game as this one.

It’s a near decade fresher engine and design. That was my take from my first day “this is like if someone polished WOW till it shined”

It was already pretty damn good. if i may hot-take, its mechanically as well as aesthetically, superior to wow. and once i finish my pc upgrade, i will be diving back in.

Are people still saying that? I think anyone who’s actually spent time with the game knows that’s nonsense. Gambits aren’t nearly complex enough to amount to “the game playing itself” unless you put in a LOT of time and work to give your characters behaviors which account for every possible circumstance. It was a good game and a blast to play. Nix Vaan and the game would be even better!

Your god damn right it is Jason. FF XII is my favorite. I’m always thinking about it and I replay it at least twice a year and still find new things. Brilliant game and I am glad it is getting the remaster it deserves.
