I do think Tesla’s lead in charging will end up causing some automakers to budge eventually, because building out SC’s has been one of the major investment factors keeping Tesla from quarterly profitability (along with the Gigafactory, but at least that generates money once production…

Your comment doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.

“We’ve partnered with Tesla to give VW EV owners access to the largest and most efficient charging network in America” is a good selling point.

The fact that VW didn’t go for it and adopt Tesla’s standards just speaks to more German ego. Tesla did it first and did it better, and made it free for everyone else to use those patents if they want. VW is cutting their nose off to spite their face here.

Not adopting Tesla’s standards here is the dumb move by VW. They’re FREE TO USE FFS.

Tesla had a plan and that plan was ALWAYS linked to battery technology and solar over being a car company. Elon’s long game is strong (even if his time estimation skills suck).
