This isn't about Pat specifically (I've never seen those sketches), but I've never really understood why gender ambiguity is supposed to be funny. Or scary. Or really anything besides "a thing that happens sometimes".

And here I was, hoping to see a sub trying to make its way through a wheat field or a tar pit or the West Edmonton Mall or any number of other incongruous Albertan locations…

That was the exact reaction I had! I was really excited to see a show with a trans protagonist…and then it turned out that her shitty children got about as much screentime as she did. No thank you.

I think we mostly agree (though I really do think there are certain lines a comedian shouldn't cross if they're not part of that group, but that's a different kettle of fish). I just wanted to highlight that Bamford making light of her own struggles with mental illness and/or the attached stigma isn't nearly the same

Yeah, but Maria Bamford is joking about her own experiences. Charlamagne isn't a trans woman, he doesn't understand what it's like, he doesn't get to make jokes about it (and that's not generally the part of trans life that gets joked about amongst ourselves anyway).

Yes, but less than Jake.

Rikki?

T-Pain?

I'm not sure how useful a submarine would be in Alberta.

Ew.

RWNJ? …I'd like to buy a vowel.

Right you are, Ken!

Yeah, the category seems a little weird to me, but Speechless is so good and so underrated that I barely care.

But I don't drink, either! I'd have a much better shot with the ancient TV questions, honestly.

No, no, we should all fax each other our subjective opinions. Preferably in the form of a ten-page manifesto.

In practice it just seems to extend the game into a never-ending stalemate — I never get the Sports wedge, while my dad can get that one but not the History one, for example. I guess I understand the urge to keep us nerds from rolling everyone else every time, but I find it's really hard to find anyone who wants to

If there were laws requiring employers to hire people with no merit I would be making six figures.

I still remember the time my friend typed the URL for that site in wrong and accidentally took us to a porn site. At school.

That's your solution to everything, move the libertarians under the sea.
